The link above will allow you to do multiple things. You can
- Apply for housing when the waiting lists are open,
- Log in and see your current position on the waiting list,
- Update your application as your situation changes.
You must keep your e-mail address current. We will not send updates by any method other than e-mail.
You are responsible for updating your application information during the 30 day period of January 15 – February 15 and again during the period of July 15 – August 15. Failure to update your information during this time period will automatically drop you from the wait list. You will be assigned a position based on your selected preference (if applicable), date, and time of application. The wait list is updated on the 5th business day of the month. Plano Housing Authority will not release any wait list information over the telephone.
We will contact you by e-mail when you are at the Prequalification stage of your application. We will need you to provide documentation that allows you to move on to the next step in the process.

There is NEVER a charge to apply for federally funded public housing. Do not ever fall victim to any type of scam that attempts to charge you to apply for public housing assistance. Do not use any internet website that says that they can get you on a waiting list for a fee. These are scams and you will not be placed on a waiting list. You will just pay money that will not do anything to help you. If any federal agency ever asks you for money to be placed on a waiting list you should immediately contact your local HUD office. Private apartments and private landlords are able to charge you an application fee.
We do not offer any form of emergency housing. Click the External Resources tab at the top of the page for agencies that may be able to provide additional resources.
We will make a Public Notice in the local newspaper and on our website at least 30 days before the voucher wait list opens.
